Hello all,
I am Jane Marie Russell, a robust, 12 pound sealpoint tip, part Siamese kitty about to embark on the fight of my life. Today I was officially diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, an off-putting disease I can not even pronounce. It is a cancer that is growing like cat nip along my gumline, and is making my usual welcoming smile seem somewhat ominous.
The two people and two felines I live with have decided to make me the poster child of this most untimely disease. Days before my treatment begins, I am here, swollen face and all, bravely before all of you healthy people (and anyone else) to tell my as yet unfolding story. All fish contributions will be accepted.
Stay tuned! It promises to be a wild ride. Meanwhile I am grooming myself in anticipation of the days to come when I may not feel up to the task!
Jane,
You go, girl!! We love you!
Hang in there, Jane. You are gonna beat this monster.
What an amazing chronicle you have made for Jane! Wow- this is great for any cat owners who is going through this disease. I will use this for clients.
Dr. Lisa
Thanks so much Dr. Feinstein! We appreciate all you’ve done. Maybe somehow Jane’s blog in some small way will advance the cause of cancer in animals. Meanwhile, her tumors seem to be shrinking.
i love jane
We love & miss you Jane. xoxoxoxo
I don’t know if you are still reading these posts but i just lost the love of my life on feb 4 2012. I watched a happy..healthy cat deteriorate in front of me horribly. Tigger was diagnosed around xmas time and i was offered no options…the cancer was to far back on the bottom jaw to do surgery. I was given 6 months and even with peroxicam..sub q’s etc…i barely got 2 months.
When he went something in me went also. I am so sorry for your loss.
Thanks very much for sharing. I am so sorry for your loss. I think of Jane every day and it still hurts that she’s no longer with us. But it’s true that time eases pain. Hopefully medical solutions will also come in time. Please keep in touch.
